Director, Regulator & AHJ Relations at CSA Group

Daniel Langlois is the Director of Regulator & AHJ Relations at CSA Group. In this role, he is responsible for promoting CSA Group’s global certification programs and standards development initiatives, while building relationships with Regulatory Authorities (RAs) and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) internationally. Daniel works closely with industry associations, inspectors, regulatory authorities and AHJs, standards developers, certification bodies, contractors, electricians, manufacturers, and testing laboratories, to promote the safe installation and use of certified products and systems. He is also an active member of CSA Group’s US Mark Awareness Team which assesses, improves, and maintains awareness and recognition of CSA Group’s mark (brand) by RAs and AHJs. Daniel also serves as a voting member on the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 Technical Committee.

Earlier in his career at CSA Group, Daniel led the Global Product Safety & Compliance Team responsible for protecting the integrity of CSA’s registered trademarks and their intellectual property. At the time, his team functioned as a liaison between CSA Group and the regulatory authority community in Canada, the United States and throughout the world.

Outside of CSA Group, Daniel is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Institution of Fire Engineers, Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, National Association of Fire Investigators, Canadian Fire Safety Association, Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, the Canadian Council of Fire Marshals and Fire Commissioners and the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators (CAFI). Daniel is a past National President of CAFI and past Managing Editor of their national magazine, “The Journal.” The Minister of Ontario of Community Safety and Correctional Services appointed Daniel to the position of Director, Ontario Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council and he held a position on the Council’s Board of Directors for three terms. Daniel is a recipient of the Ontario “Chief Public Safety Officer’s Special Recognition Award” for his role in the advancement of international standards to enhance stove top fire safety.

Daniel holds an Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology and an Honors Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering. In addition, he has completed several fire investigation and product safety industry related courses at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Wisconsin.

Daniel has been a loyal and contributing member of the IAEI since 1991 and has represented the Ontario Chapter, the Canadian Section on the IAEI International Board of Directors as Secretary, International Candidate and Representative to the International Board.  In 2023, Daniel was honored to be elected to the position of Chairman, IAEI International Executive Board of Directors where he served the IAEI and its members for a two-year term.
