Peter Graser

Director, Codes & Standards at Copperweld

With 30 years of experience working with wire mills and metals manufacturing, Peter brings industry-specific leadership and discipline to Copperweld.  Offering strengths in product development, research and marketing, his work positions wire businesses for long-term success by arming them with products early in their life-cycles.  His world view and business philosophy have been shaped by a career largely centered around the international metals trade.

Peter believes that success in business hinges upon mastering its technical fundamentals. Bimetallics are no exception. He first became acquainted with bimetals in 2002 when working with clients active in the manufacture of aluminum-clad steel strand to ground long-haul utility applications. Later, in 2005, he added to his client portfolio a company manufacturing data conductors from copper-clad aluminum and copper-clad steel, bimetals both produced in-house. Wanting to diversify away from data and seeing a promising new application for bimetals in power, Peter began experimenting with copper-clad aluminum electrical building wire in 2006 throughout Latin America, eventually pioneering its commercialization there. Copperweld retained his agency in 2013 to continue this work, and later hired Peter full-time in 2019 as the Building Wire Product Line Manager to assist in rolling out building wire as a mainline product group for U.S. distribution. In addition to Peter’s current role as Vice President of Building Wire, he is also the President of the American Bimetallic Association.
